Q. What control panel do you use and do you have a demo?

Q. Can I pay monthly?
- A. No, you can't pay monthly .
Q. How long does it take to setup my account?
- A. Your account will be setup within 2 to 3 hours of
ordering.Because we have to confirm your payment.
Q. Are there any hidden costs, or setup fees?
Q. Do you offer telnet or shell access?
- A. No due to security reason's we do not offer telnet or
shell access.You are still able to unzip files on the server using our
file manager as well as the ability to setup cron jobs.
Q. Can I password protect directories?
- A. Yes you can password protect directory's within CPanel.
Q. What is Domain ?
- A. Domain is a name that is required by a website. This is a name that identify a particular website. For example, www.google.com - here google.com is the domain.
Q. What is Web Hosting ?
- A. Web Hosting is a space that is required by a website. This is the space where all the files for a website is kept. Web Hosting has an IP (Internet Protocol) number, which needs to be connected to a domain for a website to be operated properly.
Q. How can I publish a website ?
- A. First an unregistered domain needs to be registered, then a web hosting package have to be purchased, after that a website can be published on the internet.
Q. Does Web Hosting have E-mail addresses ?
- A. Yes, Web Hosting have E-mail addresses. For example, for a domain www.example.com E-mail addresses can be yourname@example.com or xxx@example.com or something else.
Q. Where do I upload my files?
- A. All files and folders should be uploaded to the public_html directory.
The public_html folder can be accessed either by FTP or via 'File Manager' under 'Site Management' in cPanel.
To access your hosting account via FTP connect to www.FTP.YOURDOMAIN.com
Be sure to create an index file for your home page, this can be index.htm, index.html, index.php, etc.
Please note our Linux servers are case sensitive so index.htm and Index.htm are two separate files. Index.htm will not be recognized as the default first page. It must be index.htm (.html, .php, etc.) in lowercase.
Q. How do I register a new domain name and add it to my Hostmela account?

A. If you would like to purchase a new domain name you can do so at any time from your cPanel account.
Simply select Domain Registration from the Optional Account Addons section and then enter your domain name.
Once your domain is registered you will need to add the new domain name as a parked or addon domain in your control panel. You can access you control panel by visiting www.yourdomain.com/cpanel and selecting 'Parked Domains' from the 'Domains' menu.
Q. Can I transfer an existing domain to my Hostmela account?
- A. You can transfer unlimited addon or parked domains over to your hostmela account. Please ensure that the domain's nameservers are pointed to hostmela:
- ns1.hostmela.com
- ns2.hostmela.com
The changing of nameservers may take up to 48 hours.
You then need to add the domain as either a parked or addon domain in your cPanel account. If you would like hostmela to manage any of your additional domain please email us at support@hostmela.com

Q. How do I backup my site in cPanel?
- A. It is important to have your own backup procedure in place to protect yourself from losing all your files. It is extremely easy to backup your site using cPanel and we strongly recommend that you backup your mySQL databases more often than your files. Login to your control panel and click on ''Backup''
Q. How do I transfer my domain name?
- A. Transferring a domain name to hostmela.com is easy.
Just follow these steps:
1) Make sure your domain name is unlocked and that your Whois information is your information.
2) Obtain an authorization code from your registrar.
3) Email support@hostmela.com with your authorization code and domain name.
4) We will start the transfer, and you'll get an approval email within 24 to 48 hrs.
After you approve the transfer, it will take up to 7 days for everything to be transferred over to hostmela.com
If you need your site running before the transfer, make sure you change the nameservers to ours before you start the transfer.
Please follow these simple rules to avoid issues with your transfer:
You can only transfer .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, and .us domains at this time.
Regulations prohibit transferring domains that are less than 60 days old. Please wait at least 60 days before transferring.
Regulations also prohibit transferring domains that will expire within 7 days. So, please transfer early to avoid this problem.
EPP/Auth authentication code will be required for .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, and .us domain transfers. Contact your current registrar to get an EPP code.
Q. How do I set up a subdomain?
- A. Setting up a subdomain is very easy.
Within the cPanel (How do I log into my account Control Panel?):
1) In the Domain section, click the "Subdomains" icon.
2) In "Subdomain" type in the name you would like to be your subdomain. In the drop-down menu choose the domain name you would like to add this subdomain to.
3) A Document Root will automatically be created for this subfolder in the public_html folder. You can change this if you want.
4) Click "Create".
You have now added a subdomain!
Q. How do I restore a database from cPanel?
- A. With the Backups tool in Cpanel, you may generate, download or restore backup files, MySQL databases and email domain forwarder/filter. It is recommended you download the backups to your local machine as a backup.
You may refer to the steps below on how to restore MySQL database from CPanel.
1. Log in to your Cpanel at http://domain_name/cpanel/ or http://domain_name:2082
2. Click on the Backups icon.
3. Choose on the option "Restore a MySQL Database".
4. Browse to the MySQL database backup file you have on your local machine, then click on the Upload button.
5. Wait for the operation to restore the MySQL database to be completed (Note: This might take several minutes, depending on your MySQL database backup file size).
6. Once completed, you may have to reassign the corresponding database user to the MySQL database again.
7. To assign the database user to a MySQL database, you may go back to the main page of the CPanel.
8. Click on MySQL databases.
9. Browse to "Add Users To Databases" section.
10. Choose the corresponding user and database, then click on "Add user to database".
Note:
1. If you have any error message prompt when you upload your MySQL database backup file, kindly contact Webhostingpad Support.
2. If your backup file is larger than 20MB, kindly upload your backup file to anywhere on your hosting account and contact Exabytes Support to request Restore MySQL database. Let us know the location of the backup file.
Q. How do I password protect a folder?
- A. 1) Log in to cPanel.
2) In the section called "Security" click "Password Protect Directories"
3) A popup window will come up titled "File Manager Directory Selection"
To password protect a directory in the root directory, public_html, select the option "Web Root (public_html/www)"
To password protect a directory within a directory in public_html, select a folder from the drop-down menu under "Document Root for"
4) Select the folder you wish to protect by clicking on its name. Or, to view more folder within a folder, click on that folder's icon.
5) Security Settings:
Password protect this directory: Check this.
Name the protected directory: Type in a name you would like to call this directory
Click Save
6) Create a user by entering a desired username and password. You must add a user/users to access the directory from the web.
Click "Add/modify authorized user"
You can add many users to be able to access your protected directory.
Under Authorized Users, you can delete users who have access to this directory.
